USA Today and International bestselling author J.C. Valentine is back with the latest in her electrifying, dangerous, and provocative world of the Spartan Riders MC…
After escaping an abusive marriage, Spartan Riders bartender Ginger “Red” Mercury is determined to live life on her own terms. When the club’s VP declares her untouchable and stakes his own claim on her, she finds herself ready to wage war.
A year after inoculating the threat from notorious cartel leader Ricky Cruiz, Garrick “Repo” Stone, the last-standing original member of the Spartan Riders MC, has his focus on something else: monogamy. Having decided to settle down and take an ol’ lady, he has his sights set on Red…and he has his work cut out for him if he hopes to win her.
When a new threat makes itself known, threatening everything the brothers stand for and care about, they’re left scrambling to find out who’s behind it before it’s too late. With the high-stakes game of war looming over them, will Red be able to open her heart to love before outside forces pull her and Repo apart?
Unfortunately, I am coming into this series a bit late, as this is book 3. I had to play catch up in order to learn what brought us to this point but luckily, it wasn't hard to do. Maybe eventually I'll go back to the beginning but for now, I think I'm good.
First, let me say Repo? Not so sure he would have been my first choice. I liked him, he was intriguing for sure but I was very confused about his character at first. First, he's old, at least that's how he's portrayed (even if he's only in his 40's?). Ginger meets him when she's a teenager and she describes him as: "an older man off to the side. He was sitting at a round, plastic card table, talking with a bunch of other guys dressed in leather just like him. He had shocking white hair, a matching goatee, and eyes so light and blue they seemed to glow in the dark. And he hadn’t taken his eyes off her since she walked onto the property."
I just picture him as too old for her.
"This must be what Woodstock was like, she imagined. Had this guy been there himself? He was old enough, she thought. That should have turned her off—his age. But she found it hotter than ever. He was hot."
How old is this man???
When we first meet Ginger she was a little wild for my taste, to be honest. I like strong female leads with a hint of sass but I love characters that I feel a connection with and she wasn't that for me. Part of my difficulty comes from the fact that there were some inconsistencies with the continuity. It's stated that Ginger grew up around the MC and was involved with Blake, the president when they were younger. In fact, she was his first and the reason for his nickname Quick, and that was when he was 14. However, in the prologue, Ginger is in her first year of College, her first year away from home and she didn't know the MC she was brought to by a friend.
The writing itself was good but with so many inconsistencies I struggled to fully immerse myself in these particular characters. Their chemistry was good and they obviously wanted each other desperately but ugh, the back and forth between the two was annoying, really.
Overall, this book was just okay to me. I'm not sure if I'll go back to read books 1 and 2 and maybe I'll read the next in the series but I'm not completely sure yet.

Then Gabby Morgan enters the picture. She’s flawless, refined, and as his kid’s teacher, way out of his league. She acts like she hates him, but her eyes tell a different story. Before he knows it, Blake finds himself hot for teacher, and he’s more than ready to learn all her secrets. Now all he has to do is convince her to give him a shot…without getting them both killed in the process.
